Julian, City Manager
FROM: Mike Little, Administrative Services Officer
SUBJECT: State Cooperative Purchasing Agreement
STTITATTON
The State Office of Procurement has a program enabling cities to
use State contracts for the purchase of various items. Larger
cities with warehousing facilities and police departments,
especially take advantage of this program and save between 300
and SOo on certain purchases. The City has not used this service
in the past because it would not be administratively or economi-
cally advantageous because of the small quantity purchases.
The Public Works Department has requested to be included in this
program to take advantage of savings in the purchase of truck and
automobile tires. The City has been buying tires from South
Coast Truck and Auto Center who is participating in the State pro-
gram with B.F. Goodrich and Goodyear.
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS
It is estimated that the City can save 40% on the purchase of all
truck and automobile tires for the 27 City -owned vehicles. On
the average $3500 a year is spent for tires. Annual savings are
estimated at $1400. The cost to participate in the program is $40
plus minimal administrative time.
ALTERNATE ACTIONS

RECOMMENDATION
