Murphy, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Award of Contract, Traffic Signal at Del Obispo and Blue Fin TUATION: Bids were received for the Del Obispo and Blue Fin traffic signal installation on January 18, 1977. The Engineer's estimate and the two low bidders are shown below. Upon award of the contract, construction could commence in early February and the traffic signal should begin operating within 90 days. Staff has reviewed the qualifications of the low bidder and has found that the contractor is qualified to perform the construction as designed. A copy of the contract required is in the specifi- cations at the City Engineer's office. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS: The Engineer's estimate and the two low bids are as follows: Engineer's estimate $35,000 C T & F, Inc. 27,904 Grissom & Johnson, Inc. 28,799 The cost is to be shared equally between the City and County, since it is a cooperative project. Funds for this project are allocated in the 1976-77 budget under Capital Projects, Gas Tax Fund 2106. ALTERNATE ACTIONS: 1. Award the contract. 2. Do not award the contract, and cancel the project. 3. Reject all bids and readvertise the project. RECOMMENDATION: By motion, award the contract for the traffic signal installation at Del Obispo and Blue Fin to C.T.& F., Inc. in the amount of $27,904, reject all other bids, and authorize the Mayor to execute the contract documents.
