Murphy, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Approval of Plans and Specifications for the Revised Plans for E1 Camino Real Park SITUATION: At the City Council meeting of October 1, following public testimony, the Council directed Staff to re-study the park facilities. During this meeting direction was given to investigate alternate locations for the picnic and restroom facilities . Further direction was given to review the need for the small amphitheatre. This office, in cooperation with the Planning Department, has revised the plans which are available in the office of the City Engineer and will also be available at the Council meeting. The major changes to the design are the northerly relocation of the picnic and restroom facilities , and reduction in scale of the amphi- theatre . Since concerns were expressed with regard to the landscaping, additional trees are proposed in certain areas . At the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting of October 13, the plans and specifications will be presented for their review and com- ments . Their comments will be presented by an oral report to the City Council meeting of October 15. As of this date we have not obtained a specific answer from either the County or State with regard to their funding approval should certain facilities be deleted from the park design. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS: $150,000 has been allocated in the fiscal year 1975-76 budget which includes the $50,000 County participation and $50,000 State partici- pation. ALTERNATE ACTIONS: 1. Approve the plans and specifications as submitted . 2. Approve the plans and specifications, deleting the restroom facility and/or picnic facility and/or amphitheatre . 3 . Approve the plans and specifications but direct Staff to revise the restroom structure to a locked facility. 4. Approve the plans and specifications and direct the inclusion of a spray basin as an alternate design. 5. City Council direction to Staff for a revised park design. . ?
