Julian, City Manager Ray Wellington, Interim Director of Engineering do Building SUBJECT: Resolution, Notice of Completion and Final Report - Cook Park Replanting Project (BotaCo, Inc.) SITUATION The replanting of the Cook Park soccer fields by BotaCo, Inc. has been completed to the satisfaction of the Director of Public Lands and Facilities. It is ready for acceptance by the City Council and recordation of a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder. The fence around the replanted fields was removed during the last week of August with the anticipation that it would be officially ready for play on September 1, 1990. NOTIFICATION BotaCo, Inc. COMMISSION/BOARD REVIEW, RECOMMENDATIONS Not applicable. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS The contract was awarded to BotaCo, Inc. in the amount of $49,922. Three change orders were issued for the project. Change Order One was for six months of winter maintenance of the fields in an amount not to exceed $3,600. Change Order Two was in the amount of $1,750 for the installation of 3,500 square feet of sod in certain small areas of the fields. The sod was installed in July, 1990, so that the fields would be ready for use by September 1. Change Order Three was for additional field maintenance, if needed, in the amount of $1,800, of which only one month was used at a cost of $600. Two months of original contract maintenance was not used, which resulted in a reduction of $2,000. The total project cost amounted to $53,872. Funds for this project were originally budgeted in Account No. 12-6900-4704-104 in 1987/88 but are currently available in Account No. 12-6900-4704-108. ALTERNATE ACTIONS 1. Accept the improvements. 2. Do not accept the improvements. 3. Refer to Staff for additional information. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING WORK TO BE COMPLETED AS TO PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE COOK PARK REPLANTING PROJECT (BOTACO, INC.) WHEREAS, on the 2nd day of March, 1989, the City of San Juan Capistrano entered into a contract with BotaCo, Inc., for the replanting of the soccer fields at Cook Park; and, WHEREAS, the Interim Director of Public Works has evaluated the final quantities and cost figures and recommends approval. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano, as follows: SECTION 1. That the work required to be performed by said contractor has been completed. SECTION 2. That the total cost of said work is in the amount of $53,872. SECTION 3. That the work is hereby accepted and approved. SECTION 4. The City Clerk is directed to forthwith forward a "Notice of Completion" to the County Recorder of the County of Orange for recording.
