AGENDA ITEM June 5, 1990
TO: Stephen B. Julian, City Manager
FROM: W. D. Murphy, Director of Public Works
SUBJECT: Extension of Contracts - Landscape Maintenance (BotaCo, Inc.)
SITUATION
On August 15, 1989, the City of San Juan Capistrano entered into various contracts with
BotaCo, Inc. for landscape maintenance of City parks, parkways, facilities, and landscape
districts. BotaCo took these contracts over for the same price as the previous
contractor, Toyo Landscape Maintenance. These prices were established through a
competitive bid in 1988. BotaCo took the contracts over when Toyo Landscape
Maintenance was terminated for performance problems. As a provision of the contracts
with BotaCo, the City may, at its option, extend the contracts for an additional twelve
months. During the past year, the condition of the City landscape areas has improved
significantly. BotaCo has agreed to extend the contracts, with a 5% cost of living price
increase.
