Murphy, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Extension of Contracts - Landscape Maintenance (BotaCo, Inc.) SITUATION On August 15, 1989, the City of San Juan Capistrano entered into various contracts with BotaCo, Inc. for landscape maintenance of City parks, parkways, facilities, and landscape districts. BotaCo took these contracts over for the same price as the previous contractor, Toyo Landscape Maintenance. These prices were established through a competitive bid in 1988. BotaCo took the contracts over when Toyo Landscape Maintenance was terminated for performance problems. As a provision of the contracts with BotaCo, the City may, at its option, extend the contracts for an additional twelve months. During the past year, the condition of the City landscape areas has improved significantly. BotaCo has agreed to extend the contracts, with a 5% cost of living price increase. The cost of these contracts is $193,520.25. The cost of the landscape maintenance contracts is budgeted in Public Works account 07- 6213-4440. The cost of these contracts is $39,689.87. This money is recovered by the annual Landscape District assessments. ALTERNATE ACTIONS 1. Approve the contract extensions for landscape maintenance contracts for one year with BotaCo, Inc. 2. Do not approve the contract extension. 3. Refer to Staff for additional information.
