Huber, Director of Engineering & Building SUBJECT: Resolution, Notice of Completion and Final Report - Installation of Drainage Improvements on Calle Delgado (Bob Wetzel Concrete, Inc.) RECOMMENDATION By resolution, determine that the work for the capital improvement project, Installation of Drainage Improvements on Calle Delgado, has been completed and declare the work to be accepted; direct the City Clerk to forward a notice of completion to the Orange County Recorder for recording and authorize staff to release the 10% retention in the amount of $962.40, 35 days after the recordation of the notice of completion. SITUATION A. Summary and Recommendation This project consists of the installation of a curb inlet and connection of the inlet to an existing storm drain in Calle Delgado. The project has corrected a long-standing problem with ponding water in the street adjacent to 27171 Calle Delgado. The construction of this project has been completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer and is ready for acceptance by the City Council and recordation of a notice of completion with the Orange County Recorder. B. Background In August, 1994, the City Council approved the project to correct the problem with standing water at 27171 Calle Delgado. On June 25, 1995, bids were opened and the low responsible bidder was determined to be Bob Wetzel Concrete, Inc. at $9,624. On September 5, 1995, City Council awarded the project to Bob Wetzel Concrete, Inc. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS The final contract cost was $9,624. There were no change orders on the project. The City has budgeted $20,250 in Account No. 12-65300-4710-134 this fiscal year for the drainage project. Last fiscal year, the expenditure for the project was $5,480.33. Notice of Completion RESOLUTION NO. 95-11-21-1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING WORK TO BE COMPLETED AS TO PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS ON CALLE DELGADO (BOB WETZEL CONCRETE, INC.) WHEREAS, on the 5th day of September, 1995, the City of San Juan Capistrano entered into a contract with Bob Wetzel Concrete, Inc., 1419 East Keegan Way, Santa Ana, 92701, for installation of drainage improvements on Calle Delgado; and, WHEREAS, the Director of Engineering and Building has evaluated the final quantities and cost figures and recommends approval. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano as follows: completed. SECTION 1. That the work required to be performed by said Contractor has been SECTION 2. That the total cost of said work is in the amount of $9,624. SECTION 3. That the work is hereby accepted and approved. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk is directed to forthwith forward a "Notice of Completion" to the County Recorder of the County of Orange for recording.
