CURATOR AGREEMENT WITH THE BLAS AGUILAR ADOBE FOUNDATION FOR OCCUPANCY/USE OF THE BLAS AGUILAR ADOBE (600.401 Written Communication: t Report dated October 15, 1996, from the Finance Officer, forwarding a proposed Memorandum of Understanding between the Agency and the Blas Aguilar Foundation establishing responsibilities of the Foundation for use of the Adobe. The Foundation's goals are restoration and preservation of adobe structures; preservation and historic depiction of Native American Indian, Hispanic -Mexican and Anglo cultures; and, education of the public. The Report requested either approval of the Memorandum or direction to staff to forward the Memorandum to the Cultural Heritage Commission for comment. Mary Laub, Management Analyst II, made an oral presentation. Chainnan Swerdlin suggested that the proposed quarterly reports to the Executive Director also provide a status report on preservation of the adobe, collection of artifacts, etc. He felt that the reports could be provided either quarterly or every six months. David Belardes, 31742 Via Belardes, expressed appreciation to the City Council, former City Council members, Mary Laub and other City staff, and others in the community for their support. He noted that his wife is a descendant of Don Blas Aguilar and there is a personal, family feeling for the Adobe. Referral of Proposed MOU to Cultural Heritage Commission: It was moved by Director Jones, seconded by Chairman Swerdlin, and unanimously carried that the MOU be forwarded to the Cultural Heritage Commission for comments, with the modification that the curator's reports to the Executive Director include a status report on the adobe's preservation progress and artifact acquisition.
