CULTURAL HERITAGE COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
A. ORGANIZATION:
1. CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Friess called the Regular Meeting of the Cultural Heritage Commission of
the City of San Juan Capistrano to order at 4:32 p.m. in the City Council
Chamber.
2. ROLL CALL:
Commissioners Present: Donna Friess, Chair

Lorie Porter
Staff Present: Laura Stokes, Housing Supervisor/Assistant Planner
B. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: None .
. C. CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. Draft April 24, 2018 Cultural Heritage Commission Minutes. Approved as
presented, by a 4-0-1 vote (Commissioner DeHaan abstained).
2. Draft July 24, 2018 Cultural Heritage Commission Meeting Minutes.
Approved as presented, by a 4-0-1 vote (Commissioner Lawrence-
Adams abstained).
D. PUBLIC HEARINGS:
None.
E. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
None.
F. NEW BUSNESS:
CHC Action Minutes 2 October 23 2018
1. Verbal discussion to consider a banner and related program during
preservation month in 2019.
Lori Porter opened discussion regarding donated banners, and the
potential to use the banners. The Cultural Heritage Commission reviewed
and provided comments on the banner program during the 2019
preservation month.
Adoption of Motion
Commission Porter made the motion, seconded by Commissioner
Lawrence-Adams, to continue this item to the November 27, 2018 Cultural
Heritage Commission. The motion passed by a 5-0 vote.
G. COMMISSION/STAFF COMMENTS:
1. Laura Stokes updated the Commission on the Mills Act Inspection Letters.
2. Lori Porter asked Staff to investigate the historic depiction displayed at the
Juan Avila Adobe for general maintenance conditions.
3. Rhonda Dehaan requested staff provide an update to the Commission on
the status of the Pryor Adobe.
4. Mechelle Lawrence Adams identified concern with a ghost walking tour in
the Los Rios Historic District appearing to serve alcohol to their guests.
H. ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business, Chair Friess adjourned the meeting at 5:32 p.m .
to Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber.
