CULTURAL HERITAGE COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
A. ORGANIZATION:
1. CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Lawrence-Adams called the Regular Meeting of the Cultural Heritage
Commission of the City of San Juan Capistrano to order at 4:30 p.m. in the City
Council Chamber.
2. ROLL CALL:
Commissioners Present: Mechelle Lawrence-Adams, Chair
William Bonney
Donna Friess
Lorie Porter
Commissioner Absent: Rhonda DeHaan, Vice Chair
Staff Present: Joel Rojas, Development Services Director
Sergio Klotz, Assistant Development Services Director
B. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: None.
C. CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. Draft March 27, 2018 Cultural Heritage Commission Minutes. Approved, as
presented, by a 4-0 vote.
D. PUBLIC HEARINGS:
None.
E. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
None.
F. NEW BUSNESS:
1. Reorganization of the Cultural Heritage Commission: Selection of
Chairperson and Vice Chairperson (Project Manager: Sergio Klotz,
Assistant Development Services Director).
Cultural Heritage Commission made the following selections for the
upcoming 2018-2019 period:

Donna Friess was selected as Chair.
Adoption of Motion
Chair Lawrence-Adams opened the nominations for Chair. Chair
Lawrence-Adams nominated Donna Friess. Commissioner Porter
nominated Rhonda DeHaan. Commissioner Friess received the majority of
votes and was selected Chair.
Donna Friess Votes: Commissioners Lawrence Adams, Bonney and
Friess.
Rhonda DeHaan Votes: Commissioner Porter
William Bonney was selected as Vice-Chair.
Chair Friess opened the nominations for Vice-Chair. Commissioner
Lawrence-Adams nominated Commissioner Bonney. Commissioner Lorie
Porter nominated Rhonda DeHaan. Commissioner Bonney received the
majority of votes and was selected Vice-Chair.
William Bonney Votes: Commissioners Lawrence-Adams, Bonney,
Porter and Friess.
Rhonda DeHaan Votes: None
G. COMMISSION/STAFF COMMENTS:
1. Update on the Mills Act Properties & City Owned Properties (Project
Manager: Sergio Klotz, Assistant Development Services Director). Sergio
Klotz updated the Commission on the Mills Act Properties & City Owned
Properties.
H. ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business, Chair Friess adjourned the meeting at 5:56 p.m.
to Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber.
