Re: Upcoming hearing about the Vermeuleuns
Request for approval of the development of approximately
180 Homes.
I am a resident of the City of San Juan Capistrano, and have been for
decades. I recently received a notice of the upcoming hearing before
the City County Council. The purpose of this letter is to express my
concerns and my opposition to that proposed project at its present
size. The City Council fought against the development of my client's
property, finding among things that it would be detrimental to the
community and would cause a huge increase in traffic. The present
proposal is going to negatively impact the City and its residents for
the same reasons that they limited the Size of the Scalzo
Development. I fail to understand why the City would approve that
project when it will probably cause a ten-fold increase in traffic and
alter the beauty and character of the City. I believe that the City
Council should vote against the project for these reasons. I believe
that there is no need for such a huge undertaking. Why not limit
their project to the size they selected for the Oliva Project which is
directly across from the Vermeulen project. I do not see any reason to
approve such a large project as they are proposing.
