18-0515_VERMEULEN RANCH CENTER, LLC_D1_Correspondence 45/15/2018 Matisse Reischl 01 Subject: FW: Spieker Development on Vermeulen Property From: Chris Zamoscianyk Sent: Monday, May 14, 2018 12:14 PM To: Art Bashmakian; Sergio Farias; Brian Maryott; Kerry Ferguson; Pam Patterson; Derek Reeve; City Clerk Scanstation Subject: Spieker Development on Vermeulen Property I feel the public has not been properly informed of the development plans on the Vermeulen Property. I oppose the rezone to specific plan without an actual plan in place. The city's general plan was put in place to ensure a vision of what San Juan Capistrano is to be in the future. Without an actual proposal in place I don't think its appropriate to change the General Plan to accommodate the developer. Furthermore, I live within a 1/2 mile of the property and I feel like I was not informed as to the development. The developer also did not place a sign with notice of intent to develop on the street so the public can view. I feel like this was purposely done to keep the neighbors in the dark. I am not opposed to development or the sale of the property. However, I feel like it is important that if you are going to change the property's zoning which effects the city's general plan, the developer should be going out of their way to inform the neighbors and public of their intent. Best Regards, Chris Zamoscianyk, recipient of the Mayor's Citizens of the Year Award 2016
