Members of the City Council
City of San Juan Capistrano
32400 Paseo Adelanto
San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675
Honorable Mayor Nash:
The council will shortly be called upon to vote again on the agreement establishing a joint powers fire
authority. As the president of the association which represents the battalion and division chief officers of the
Orange County Fire Department I wish to encourage your support of the agreement. Our association is very
concerned about the threat to the department's integrated regional emergency services posed by the County's
bankruptcy. I am sure this is a concern of yours as well.
We are confident that the proposed fine authority will continue the commitment to regional fire services. At
the same time it will reduce the likelihood that long term fiscal harm will be caused by short sighted efforts to
secure immediate cash. We recognize the concerns you may have regarding the issue of assets and revenues.
We hope and expect that these will be resolved in the best interest of those we serve.
We appreciate the confidence and support expressed by the citizens of San Juan Capistrano. I hope that you
will support moving forward with the fire authority at this time.
tfully,
1
David R. Wilson
