SUBJECT: Consideration of Bids - Vereda Bikeway, Via Estenaga to Avenida Siega
SITUATION
Although six sets of documents were taken out for the Vereda Bikeway from Via
Estenaga to Avenida Siega, only one bid was received as follows:
Sully -Miller Contracting Co. $61,700
The Engineer's estimate for the project is $35,000. Staff is recommending that the bid
be rejected and the project be readvertised.

COMMISSION/BOARD REVIEW, RECOMMENDATIONS
The project has been reviewed by the Environmental Review Board and is in conformance
with the C. Russell Cook Park Master Plan.
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS
The Orange County Transportation Commission has approved the allocation of up to
$40,100 in SB 821 funds for this project which was to have been encumbered by October
1987. The OCTC is willing to extend the bid deadline to allow the project to be
readvertised.
ALTERNATE ACTIONS
1. Authorize Staff to reject the bid received and to receive new bids.
2. Award the contract and approve a budget amendment for the additional cost above
the OCTC allocation.
3. Request additional information from Staff.
RECOMMENDATION
By motion, authorize Staff to reject the bid received to receive new bids.
